Artist statement: "One of the most personally moving parts of the tree of Life narrative is Lehi's immediate desire to guide his family to the tree after he has partaken. The imagery here is based on this parental instinct to guide one's child to the good, true, and enlightening things in this life and the next. As this piece was created at the peak of racial protests in 2020 it also came to represent the yearning of my black brothers and sisters to partake of the same freedoms and security that their white countrymen enjoy."
