Albumen print of a painting by Smith on a carte de visite. Back of card printed with "R. Thompson, Photographer, Sandwich, Ill." John Hajiceck believes this was photographed c. 1870, the year Smith married Clara Hartshorn in Sandwich, Illinois before returning to Nauvoo. Back of card also has, in handwritten script, "DH Smith."
