Notes

Artist statement: "In this piece I sought to depict a peaceful, fertile land offered in an extraordinary act of compassion and unity, as described in Alma 27:21-22. The work captures the beauty and serenity of Jershon, a place symbolizing refuge, generosity, and brotherhood. The vibrant color palette—with lush greens, warm earth tones, and deep blues and purples—represents the richness of the land, as well as the spiritual richness of the people’s actions in offering it as a haven for their brethren, the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi. The ruins of ancient stone structures nestled among rolling hills and vibrant vegetation suggest a land with a deep history, echoing the timeless significance of Jershon as a place of peace and heritage. In the foreground, grazing llamas (cureloms?) evoke a sense of calm and prosperity, symbolizing the abundance and tranquility of life in this land."
