Artist statement: "This artwork is inspired by Jacob 4:4. I wanted to do a piece that focused more on the overall purpose and message of the Book of Mormon, which is to help us develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. In the background there are lots of chaotic shapes and colors (representing the world) that try to compete with Christ. I portrayed Jesus with a confident and peaceful expression, cutting through the noise. As He moves, the background changes which is meant to represent the power and control over creation He possesses. Additionally the shapes circle around Him, symbolic of His glory. Likewise, Christ organizes and reorients us. I wanted to visually capture the simplicity and intricasy of the purfiying process Christ utilizes as we develop our relationship with Him This piece was meant to inspire viewers have this “…hope of his glory…” and to know Him through the Book of Mormon."
