Notes

Artist statement: Episcopal Vicar and author David W. Peters tweeted "I wonder if the Seraphim clicked the tongs before he took the coal from the altar in Isaiah 6"— invoking the sense memory familiar to every avid griller. I imagine the angel as the cheerful suburban father in a print advertisement for charcoal grills from the 1960s. Isaiah, fresh from an earthly party and still wearing his best sweater and boots, is unprepared for the retro styles which confront him in heaven. He'll have to learn that it's hip to be square.
