Notes

Artist statement: "This artwork was inspired by Jesus fulfilling of the Law of Moses and teaching it to the Nephites. It represents the covenants that we now make over the altar and the sacrifices made to keep our covenants with God. It is symbolic of the higher law's sacrifices that we talk of. The ones that we saints make through covenant with a broken heart and contrite spirit. While creating and designing this piece I thought of first, the ancient animal sacrifices, Jesus and his eternal and perfect sacrifice, and then the sacrifices that we, members of the church, place upon the altar. The red stained glass at the bottom of the display represents the altar. The circles hanging over the altar represent the sacrifices that we must make- these sacrifices were designed to represent the variety, weight, and more challenging sacrifices that we must make through the chosen colors and sizes of the circles. As we sacrifice, we show what and whom we most truly love; we align our will with God's. It is a truly sacred piece to me showing that I must put it all on the table- or in other words all my sacrifices upon the altar. This was created with stained glass with copper foiling technique."
