Notes

Artist statement: "In my life, I have often felt sorry for myself. Often I have complained. Often I believe all hope is gone. Often I turn away from the comforting arms of my Savior to lick my wounds. Maybe that is why Sariah’s briefly recorded moment of lamenting pain appeals to me so deeply. In this painting, a figure is emerging through the tent door behind her. Her back is turned resolutely away from the onlooker, but the signs on His side and hands suggest that if she had turned to Him, He would have comforted her."
