Artist statement: " This one is titled “The Brother of Jared” based on a prophet form the Book of Mormon known solely by that name. It was later revealed to Joseph Smith jr. that his name is Mahonri Moriancumer in quite an interesting story. This piece is 24x36 inches and is acrylic on canvas. It is of the brother of Jared holding the 16 stones the Lord had touched in order to light the barges they had made to sail to a promised land. His story is somewhat similar to Noah and the Ark while still being very different. In the background the script font shares scripture from Ether 3:10,12. I posed for the picture myself so if it looks like me than that’s great because technically I am “a brother of Jared.""
