Notes

Artist statement: "In this piece I sought to visualize the profound and divine process described of the creation of humankind, not only as physical beings but as spiritual entities molded in the image of God. The figure emerges from an array of fragmented, wooden-like blocks, suggesting that humanity is crafted piece by piece, intricately and intentionally, by a divine hand. The blocks represent both the physical elements of our bodies and the experiences, choices, and trials that shape us into who we are. Some of these blocks are still floating above, symbolizing that creation is ongoing—not only in the initial act of forming man but throughout life, as we are continuously shaped by the Creator. The blocks scattered at the base represents divine attempts to shape us but which never took shape. By using a wood-like texture for the figure, I aimed to evoke a sense of craftsmanship, as though man were carefully carved and polished by a master artisan. The downward tilt of the figure’s head suggests humility, reflection, and perhaps an awareness of the ongoing work of becoming fully whole in the divine image."
