Artist statement: "I was inspired to make this piece because this particular chapter is about two brothers fighting over a kingdom. It reminded me of a Native American parable about two wolves that are eternally at battle inside of us—a wolf representing the force of good, and a wolf representing the force of evil. These two forces battle continually within our souls, just like the two brothers in this chapter. I was struck by the heroism of Schule and the stark difference between him and his brother. In a way, these short few verses embody the entire human condition—we are two parts of a whole, trying to reconcile the battling forces within. In the end of the parable you discover that the wolf that wins is the wolf that you feed. So which wolf will you feed?"
