Notes

Artist statement: "In 1 Nephi 11:17, Nephi expresses how he doesn't know what's ahead, yet He trusts that his future is driven by the Lord's love for Him. Life has been really unpredictable for me and my family lately, yet I know that it's always worked because the Lord is leading us. My piece, "The Roots and Branches", pays homage to my ancestors and the guiding hand of the Lord in my ancestor's lives. I also included Christ's hands at the bottom of the piece to symbolize how he has carried each generation through life. My ancestors each came from different places, religions, and life experiences which has enhanced my love for them and what they've brought to my life. Looking back I am grateful to see how the Lord continues to lead my family, just as he did for Nephi's family in the wilderness. Creating this piece helped me to process what it means to trust in the Lord, and to know that everything will work out in the end, no matter how far off it may seem."
