Artist statement: "This diorama shows the four sons of Mosiah - Ammon, Aaron, Omner, and Himni, going on their missions to preach to the Lamanites. Through their faithfulness and dedication to the Lord on their missions, Christ came to stay in the midst of them and helped magnify their work. The four missionaries are facing each other, showing their unity as a team laboring together in the Lord’s work. I decided to put them in this setup because the greatest blessings I received on my mission came when I was with a group of missionaries who we all labored together in love, unity, and dedication to the Lord. The main verse that inspired this art piece though was Alma 17:13. This was the very last verse my MTC teacher read to me and my MTC District before we all went out on our missions. It has stuck with me throughout my mission because of the great symbolism and connection it has to me and my districts I loved most on my mission. I created this art piece using felt, hot glue, paint, wooden peg dolls, floral decors, moss sheets, and nature pieces I found around campus. I love making peg dolls, and it was such a neat experience to get to come create this diorama. It really helped me to exercise my creative mind again. The majority of this artwork took me about ten hours to complete. Yet, the entire piece never felt complete until I added Jesus Christ to it. This lesson just reiterates how, even though the stories in the Book of Mormon are wonderful with the fantastic characters in them, if we take Jesus Christ out of them, they lose a significant portion of their greatness. I decided to create this diorama inside this treasure box to show how the Book of Mormon stories are like treasures to us in our lives as we meaningfully cherish them. The top part of the box is painted the same color as the cover of the Book of Mormon to show the cool imagery of the story of the Sons of Mosiah coming to life, as people look into the book. Creating this art piece really brought back fond memories of my mission in Minnesota, when just like the Sons of Mosiah, my fellow district missionaries and I got to go serve the Lord in love, unity, and devotion."
