Artist statement: "In creating this representation of Lehi’s Tree of Life, I wanted to move beyond a literal depiction and evoke something more universal, something that resonates emotionally and spiritually with the viewer. The flowing lines and vibrant spectrum of colors represent the radiance and vitality of the tree, which I see as a symbol of divine love, enlightenment, and eternal life. By using a full range of colors, from deep blues and greens to intense reds and yellows, I aimed to illustrate that the journey toward the tree encompasses all aspects of life—joy, struggle, growth, and transformation. I chose a black background intentionally to enhance the contrast, making the tree appear as if it is glowing in the darkness. This contrast reflects the core theme of Lehi’s vision—the light of truth and love standing in stark opposition to the mists of darkness that cloud the way. The roots, painted in the same vibrant colors, symbolize the grounding power of faith and personal connection to divine truth. The intertwining branches flowing outward represent spiritual growth, unity, and the shared human longing for something greater. Through this abstract approach, I sought to convey that partaking of the fruit of the tree—of God’s love—is not a static event, but an ongoing, dynamic journey of enlightenment and joy."
