Notes

Artist statement: ""Tree of Life" is an 18x24 inch oil painting on panel, created by first applying gold leaf over the entire surface, then painting on top of it as an experiment in texture and light. The layered technique creates a luminous surface that shifts with the light, inviting reflection on the spiritual richness of Lehi’s vision in 1 Nephi 8. Rather than depicting the tree literally, I chose a nonrepresentational approach, using bold, abstract color fields and branching forms to symbolize the different paths and beauty found in God’s love. The colorful shapes growing from the trunk remind me of how we’re all connected to something greater—something full of light, meaning, and joy. This piece is meaningful to me as a way to explore sacred symbolism through texture, light, and color—honoring the sacred through a contemporary lens."
