Notes

"Describing her conversion, Siebert wrote: 'At 15, I started to read the Bible hoping to learn about Jesus. At 19, the missionaries found me, but I remained aloof, fearing [I would join] the wrong church. One day, they showed me The First Vision, and my heart felt a force that I could not comprehend. I decided I could ask God for myself. After my family was asleep, I knelt down to pray for the first time in my life.' Inspired by Joseph’s willingness to pray and Siebert’s own experience with prayer, this artwork spells out James 1:5 in American Sign Language and is an invitation to ponder the verse. Siebert said, 'Joseph’s meditation changed human history—on both sides of the veil.'"
