Emma Smith
"This painting depicts an episode in the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. While Joseph Smith is beyond Emma’s view at the top of the Hill Cumorah, he is the bringer of the “word,” and Emma represents the waiting world. Emma Smith is hopeful that Joseph will be allowed to bring the plates down so that he can begin translation. The translation of the Book of Mormon is one of Mormonism’s foundational miracles. It is this marvelous record that Latter-day Saint missionaries make known around the world."
