Notes

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it became pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make her wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and also gave unto her husband with her, and he did eat. —Moses 4:12 “I love the fact that as Latter-day Saints we honor Eve as a righteous woman and a great matriarch. We don’t blame her for eating the fruit and therefore bringing pain and sorrow to the world; we celebrate her role in the plan of salvation, which allows us the opportunity to experience mortality. I chose to represent Mother Eve at the point immediately after she has eaten of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and she seems to be asking, ‘What next?’ ” —Heidi Somsen
