Notes

"This painting depicts the visit of Hyrum and Joseph Smith to Hyrum’s farm in Nauvoo on September 20, 1843. The farm was located one and a half miles east of the Nauvoo Temple site. There, Hyrum’s children explored and played and helped with the farm tasks. On September 20, 1843, Hyrum and Joseph visited the farm, where Hyrum was pleased to see his crops looking better. A heavy rain the week before, the first since June 1, had somewhat revived the scrubby vegetables, corn, and other crops."
