“In my layered, dimensional wood picture, I have compressed events that involved Moroni over a 1,600-year period. In ancient America, Moroni buried the gold plates. Joseph Smith received the plates from the angel Moroni during the 1820s. In our day, the Nauvoo Illinois Temple was rebuilt, and the statue of the angel Moroni is shown here being lifted by a crane to cap the tower.” —James F. Shirley
