Notes

Notes from artist website: "Recently, We learned that the historic and sacred Kirtland Temple is, at last, back in ownership of the Church of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to the Community of Christ for their tender care of this sacred building during previous years. It has always been a special place for me since my mom named me after the Kirtland temple. And, I have always had to spell my name for people because “Kirt” is not the popular way to spell the way my name sounds. It is truly America’s Sacred Ground. It was there that God, himself along with the Savior appeared to teach and restore sacred truths. Later, Peter, Moses, Elijah, Elias and others also came in person to restore sacred priesthood keys. We can only imagine what marvelous opportunities and events will take place there in the future. I painted this little piece using the view from inside, looking out of the poured glass pioneer windows. My heart in tender as I write this and I hope my words convey my testimony and love for this Sacred place."
