Notes

“This piece depicts from the grasshoppers’ point of view the infamous 1848 locust attack on the early Mormon pioneer settlements in Utah. As a miraculous answer to prayer, seagulls flew in and devoured the locusts. This story teaches us that in times of hardship, when all seems to be lost, never to lose faith. Locusts! as an illustration was created in watercolor for children and adults of all ages.” —Kathryn McDermed
