Notes

"The inspiration for this piece was a photograph of the Sacred Grove taken by my neighbor Lee Koldewyn. This three-dimensional stained-glass piece was created by assembling two complete panels using the copper-foil stained-glass method and then plating (or layering) additional glass on the front and back of each panel to create the depth and contrast found in the Sacred Grove. A third piece of clear glass was etched on both sides and placed in the back to help create an additional feeling of depth and to enhance light contrast. Two types of Uroboros hand-rolled glass were used for the leaves and the ground of the first panel. The second panel uses Uroboros glass for the leaves and a clear glass panel to create light for the trees and ground. The layered trees of both panels are made from Spectrum glass. All colors and shading are fired in the glass." -Melanie Allen
