Notes

"I have always loved Nauvoo. Some of my own family lived there. The first time I visited was in 1992 while on tour with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Since then, I have wanted to create paintings to commemorate the Saints in Nauvoo. This painting is a condensed view of the city, representing what life might have been like on a late afternoon in early autumn while the temple was under construction. The Saints in Nauvoo lived by faith, worked hard, and loved God. They followed their prophet as well as they could. They were human beings with tremendous challenges and human weakness, yet even with those weaknesses, they accomplished great things. This painting is a tribute to them."
