Notes

Artist statement: "This is the Webb Blacksmith Shop in old Nauvoo Illinois. One of my ancestors, Orin Nelson Woodbury may have worked in this shop as a young teenager. Many of the wagons were made here and prepared for the long journey made by the Mormon Pioneers out West. Orin came with the pioneers first to Salt Lake City, then on to help settle the community of St. George, Utah–the place where I now live and have my painting studio. Last summer we followed the old Mormon Trail with a group from the Sons of Utah Pioneers and visited many of the locations where my own pioneer ancestors lived. This painting is one of a series done to honor my own forefathers who sacrificed so much for their posterity."
