Parley P. Pratt
“Parley P. Pratt was loyal, dedicated, and faithful. He helped establish the Church and was steadfast in his testimony and service. He was an Apostle of the Lord, and his life proved his love for the Savior and the Church. He was called on numerous missions throughout the world. He was faithful to the end, killed while serving a mission in the South at age 50. Parley endured imprisonment on false accusations several times. He knew and loved the Prophet Joseph Smith. Having been incarcerated with him, he wrote, ‘Dignity and majesty have I seen but once, as it stood in chains, at midnight, in a dungeon in an obscure village of Missouri.’ He was an author and editor and wrote 50 hymns for the Church. Indeed, Parley Parker Pratt stood firm in the faith.” —Barbara S. Benefiel
