Notes

"This sculpture depicts a man working on the granite sunstone for the Salt Lake Temple and it is symbolical of mankind carving out salvation. When we work toward building something greater than ourselves it refines us and we achieve our potential. The artist wanted to acknowledge the forgotten laborers who sacrificed their time and talents to build the temple. They have created a meeting place between the earth and heaven; a place where prophets, apostles, angels, the Saints, and the Savior himself have entered. The stonecutter's hands were instrumental in creating one small portion of the house of the Lord."
