Notes

"This work shows the early Saints as they took refuge from a storm and fled before the wrath being poured out behind them in Nauvoo. The Saints were going west into the darkness, but the darkness could not touch them. I was inspired to create this painting in 2010 when I attended a pioneer trek. One night, at the end of a dance, we waited for a tremendous storm to pass so we could return to our camp. As we walked back in the mist, I was struck by the line of youth in their pioneer garb, who seemed to be glowing in the light of their flashlights. I thought about the Saints who had to flee Nauvoo, with their faith to light their way."
