Notes

“This trompe l’oeil painting contains personal items that relate to my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The program mounted on the back of the left box depicts Christ blessing the children, which was from a program my father participated in when he was in the military during World War II. I have also depicted Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, the Logan Temple where I was married, and a white lily, which represents the Savior’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection. Beneath the emblems of the sacrament is a handkerchief that my mother gave to me the first time I attended the temple. These objects remind me of the sacred nature of my testimony of Jesus Christ and of how I obtained that testimony.” —Debra Teare
