200th Anniversary of Moroni’s Visit

Lee Greene Richards, “The Angel Moroni,” 1910s, Springville Museum of Art.

Today we celebrate 200 years since the angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith, ushering in the Restoration and the translation of the Book of Mormon.

This 1910s crayon and conte drawing by Utah portrait artist Lee Greene Richards is one of the very earliest depictions of Moroni as an angel.
