Jonathan Clark, “I Will Bring You Up Again Out of the Depths”
The “Come, Follow Me” readings this week are full of miracles performed by the Savior where He magnified the efforts of the people. He used Peter’s faith and empowered him to walk on the water. He fed five thousand people using just five loaves of bread and two fishes. The offerings of these people were relatively small although the faith they possessed was not. We see this pattern of the Lord magnifying the sacrifices of His people often in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. An example that first comes to mind to me is the brother of Jared and his people. It took extreme faith for the brother of Jared to bring those stones to the Lord and ask Him to turn them into light sources. So much faith was required on the part of the people to go into those barges with hope that they would get where they needed to go safely. This piece by Jonathan Clark shows the barges floating through the water, on their way to the Promised Land. The Lord took all of this faith and richly rewarded and blessed these people. What sacrifices can we make in our lives to see the Lord magnify our efforts? -Aliza Keller
