Come, Follow Me: Matthew 9–10; Mark 5; Luke 9

Jorge Cocco, “Cristo con los 12 (Christ and Twelve Disciples)”

A key passage in “Come, Follow Me” this week describes Jesus calling His twelve apostles and giving them authority to preach and heal. The Lord followed this pattern as He called disciples while visiting the people in ancient America, as well as when His Church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. We have a living prophet today and get the opportunity to hear him speak at General Conference in just a few weeks!

Another pattern the Lord follows is His commission to His followers to love and serve others. Throughout all of Matthew 10, He offers counsel on how best to do that. As we accept this call and follow His counsel, we will find the promise in verse 39 richly fulfilled: “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” -Aliza Keller
